History
In 1993, the IT department of
the Dr. Manfred Köhler GmbH, a statistics and
biometrics company in Freiburg, came to life by Max Horneck installing
the first LAN. The IT department and its services grew, and in 1996 it
presented a tool for distributed data collection using modem dial in
connections and a Maximus CBBS Mailbox System to Hoffmann-La Roche AG,
Grenzach.
In 1998 the first trials in transplantation and Hepatitis C were
started then using a Web-Based Internet RDE solution with Linux
serving Apache and Adabas D for data management. In the early 2001
Dr. Köhler was performing 6 trials with this application now known as
TRI@L-IT V.1.
As other CROs began to show their interest in the software, this was
the right time to spin out the department of information and
technology. The new company named clinIT AG was founded in August
2001. clinIT's clinical trial software TRI@L-IT is being used in
trials performed by clinIT as well as in trials where the project
management is performed by another CRO.
Since then, TRI@L-IT has been continuously advanced and adapted to our
customers' requirements. The version currently in use is TRI@L-IT V.3,
TRI@L-IT V.4 is expected to be released at the beginning of 2009.
Now, in summer 2008 clinIT can look back on 10 years of EDC experience
in over 140 TRI@L-IT projects. TRI@L-IT brings together sites on all
continents as well as small study teams for smaller-scale trials. The
very high degree of repeat business proves how successful we are in
achieving our priority aim of exceeding our customer's
expectations. Mid-size and top ten pharmaceutical manufacturers as
well as CROs rely on our expert services.
